ECO4 deadline and how to apply

ECO4 ends on 31 December 2026, following the government’s nine-month extension to the scheme. There is currently no successor supplier obligation confirmed after ECO4, so eligible households should check their options as soon as possible.

You may qualify for ECO4 funding if someone in your household receives a qualifying benefit and meets the scheme’s relevant eligibility conditions:

• Universal Credit
• Pension Credit Guarantee Credit or Savings Credit
• Housing Benefit
• Income Support or income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
• Child Benefit, subject to the ECO4 income and household eligibility rules

You may also qualify through ECO4 Flex, where participating local authorities can identify and refer households through additional eligibility routes. This can help some households who do not qualify through the standard benefit routes.

• Loft insulation, cavity wall insulation and solid wall insulation, where the property and measure meet ECO4 eligibility requirements
• First-time central heating for eligible homes
• Air source heat pumps and other eligible heating measures in qualifying circumstances

ECO4 is designed to deliver energy efficiency and heating improvements that can reduce household energy consumption and heating costs. The exact measures available depend on your property, EPC, heating system and eligibility route.
