ECO4 can help eligible households pay for insulation, heating and other energy-efficiency improvements. Ofgem has extended the scheme until 31 December 2026. Therefore, eligible households should check their options before the programme closes.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) offers up to £7,500 towards an eligible heat pump. Additionally, qualifying off-gas-grid homes can receive up to £9,000 when replacing eligible oil, LPG or coal heating. The scheme covers properties in England and Wales.
Warm Homes: Local Grant
The Warm Homes: Local Grant helps local authorities support eligible households with home insulation and other energy-efficiency improvements. However, each council decides how it delivers the funding. As a result, eligibility and availability vary by local authority.
Warm Home Discount
Eligible households can receive a £150 discount on their electricity bill through the Warm Home Discount. The scheme has now closed for the current period and will reopen in October 2026 for winter 2026/27. Your energy supplier applies the discount directly to your electricity account rather than paying it as cash.
Smart Export Guarantee
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) pays eligible households for surplus solar electricity exported to the grid. Each licensed supplier sets its own rates and terms. Therefore, comparing SEG tariffs can help you find a better return for your exported solar power.
0% VAT on energy-saving measures
Qualifying solar panels, battery storage and heat pumps can benefit from 0% VAT in Great Britain when the relevant conditions apply. Your installer normally applies the correct VAT treatment. So, check your quote to make sure it reflects the appropriate rate.
EV Chargepoint Grant
Eligible renters and flat owners can receive up to £500 towards a home EV chargepoint. The government has extended this support until 31 March 2027. In addition, a separate grant supports eligible households with on-street parking, also with funding of up to £500.

Great British Insulation Scheme
The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) closed on 31 March 2026. It supported insulation improvements for eligible properties across Great Britain. Now that the scheme has ended, some households may qualify for Warm Homes: Local Grant or other energy-efficiency support instead.
Previous OZEV home chargepoint grants
The government closed several older OZEV chargepoint grant routes on 31 March 2026. However, support continues through revised schemes for renters, flat owners and eligible households with on-street parking.

There are currently no confirmed ECO5 launch details that homeowners can rely on. ECO4 continues until 31 December 2026, but you should not assume that ECO5 will automatically launch once the current scheme ends.
